Local Conservatives in Warwick today gathered almost 200 signatures in just one hour for a petition calling on Labour MP James Plaskitt to vote against the abolition of the 10p tax band later this month.
Speaking after spending a morning speaking to market shoppers, Chris White, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Warwick and Leamington, said "This is a tax rise that will leave one in five families worse off - and will hit those on the lowest incomes the hardest. There is an overwhelming strength of feeling against this move, and I hope the government is listening. MPs will have the chance to vote on this later this month, and local people will be watching to see if Mr Plaskitt does the right thing by his constituents and votes against this tax rise."
