New leader of Warwick District Council
Tuesday, 06 May 2008

Cllr Michael Doody has been elected the new Leader of the Conservative-run District Council, having previously served as the administration’s Portfolio Holder for Housing.  Michael brings with him a wealth of experience and will drive forward the agenda set by the Conservative Group when it took control of the council in last May’s local elections.

Speaking after the election Chris White said: “I’m delighted that Michael will be leading the Council in delivering the changes we have already set in motion and wish him all the very best in his new role.  I know he will work tirelessly on behalf of local people and I’m looking forward to working with him to deliver the excellent services that residents have a right to expect of their council.”

Following Cllr Michael Doody’s election to Leader of Warwick District Council, Warwick North District and Town Councillor Moira-Ann Grainger has been appointed to the Housing portfolio in his place.  Moira-Ann said: “I’m delighted to be given the task of taking on this vital portfolio.  The Council faces several challenges in this area over the next couple of years, and I will bring all my energy to the job.”
