Yesterday (Saturday 25th August) Chris and a team of 15 local Conservatives manned a street stall in Warwick market, chatted to local residents and recruited more helpers to the campaign. The team were also gathering signatures for a petition calling on the Prime Minister Gordon Brown to fulfill his promise to give the British public a referendum over the new EU constitution.
One more signature on the petition Chris said: "We had a very succesful morning - its always a pleasure to chat to people as they enjoy our wonderful town on a sunny weekend. We also managed to gather around 80 signatures for our petition calling for a referendum on the EU constitution - and that in just about 2 hours."
"Talking to people, it is clear thats we're not the only ones who feel strongly on this issue - people were promised a say two years ago on the constitutional changes being put forward, and now Mr Brown's chicks are coming home to roost. The people are behind a referendum, the business community is behind a referendum - and even Mr Brown's own MPs are calling for one too. Why won't Gordon Brown listen?"
