Yesterday Chris White, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Warwick and Leamington gathered signatures for his petition calling for a referendum on the EU Constitutional Treaty outside the Rugby Road shops in Leamington.
Speaking after helping out at Milverton Conservatives' fortnightly surgery with Cllr Elizabeth Higgins, Chris said: "This is an absolutely vital issue of trust - Gordon Brown promised us a referendum on the EU Constitution at the last General Election. It's now time to deliver on that promise. He insists that the new EU treaty is significantly different from the constitution that was rejected by the voters in France and Denmark, and yet a host of European leaders beg to differ. What is he so afraid of?"
The Milverton team gathered dozens of signatures in the first two hours of the morning, and also had a chance to chat to local residents about their concerns over litter and anti-social behaviour outside the shops.
