David Cameron today challenged Gordon Brown to call a General Election and let the people decide who they want to govern the country.
Speaking without notes at the end of the Conservative Party Conference in Blackpool, Mr Cameron said “So, Mr Brown, what's it going to be? Why don't you go ahead and call that election? Let the people pass judgement on 10 years of broken promises, let people decide who's really making the arguments about the future of our country. Let people decide who can make the changes that we really need in our country. Call that election. We will fight. Britain will win."
Speaking outside the hall, Chris White, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Warwick and Leamington, said: “David Cameron has just displayed the leadership this country needs, and described the change we are crying out for. The atmosphere in the hall was electric. We’re ready for this election – now the ball is in the Prime Minister’s court.”
