Chris White, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Warwick and Leamington, has been invited to select his favourite exhibit from Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum as part of the new Collection Connection programme.
Acting in his capacity as Portfolio Holder for Culture on Warwick District Council, Chris chose a Leamington Spa Railway Poster by artist Ronald Lampitt, which appealed to him because of the sense of history it conveys.
After choosing the exhibit, Chris said “Leamington Spa, as portrayed by the artist Ronald Lampitt in the 1930s, was renowned for its clean, health and relaxing atmosphere and I like to think that the town has maintained this image through the decades.”
Chris will introduce Tammy Woodrow, organiser of the Collection Connection programme on Friday 25 January 2008 at 1pm at the Art Gallery & Museum, who will give a talk on the history of the railway poster as part of the regular Friday Focus programme.
