Shadow Health Minister Stephen O’Brien MP yesterday joined local Conservative Parliamentary Candidate Chris White on a visit to Lisle Court Medical Centre on Brunswick Street, Leamington, to talk to GPs about the issues facing local surgeries. Speaking after the meeting Chris White said: “It’s absolutely vital that the government consider local issues when looking at healthcare provision. A top-down, government-imposed, one-size-fits-all attitude towards General Practice is simply not going to cut it.” “When it comes to polyclinics, it’s clear that patients want to maintain the personal link with their local GP – I don’t believe that polyclinics are the way forward. Local GP surgeries form a vital part of our communities, and the government should be doing everything they can to support them in their essential work.” “It is very important for local politicians to hear about the work of our local medical professionals and Stephen and I were delighted to be able to visit Lisle Court.”
